New starters should wear comfortable non-restrictive clothing like track suit bottoms & t-shirt. Before you are allowed to grade for your first belt you will be required to get a traditional black or white Karate Gi (suit) which must be worn with the correct belt for the grade you hold.
Karate Gi’s are available through ourselves, or you are welcome to supply your own. Speak to any of the club instructors regarding this or any other equipment you require.
To give you a rough Idea of cost a new Gi would cost around £20 and these usually last for several years.
New members are licenced and insured through the clubs policy for the first 4 weeks of training, this is to give new members a chance to try it out before getting their own licence.
After 4 weeks of training you will need your own licence, this must be held by every member. Your licence also includes insurance in case of any injury.
Licences must be renewed each year and kept in date at all times.
The cost of a new licence is £25, this lasts for 12 months.
